Tina Turner
(New York)
1 Dec 2008
Legendary US soul singer Tina Turner brings her 2008 tour to the Madison Square Garden in Manhattan.
Tina Turner's raunchy, soulful voice launched her as the front woman of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue in the late Fifties. A string of R&B and rock 'n' roll hits followed, notably
River Deep, Mountain High.
Her marriage to the allegedly abusive Ike collapsed in the mid-Seventies and Tina began carving out her solo career. She succeeded spectacularly with her 1984 album,
Private Dancer, helped by the hit single
What's Love Got to Do With It, which topped the US singles charts. Together the album and single earned her four Grammy awards.
She went on to star in the sci-fi movie
Mad Max Beyond the Thunderdome and release four more albums by the end of the Nineties. Fans can expect a dynamic show peppered with hits from throughout her career.
